Welcoming Spring Entryways
March 23, 2021
Have you ever noticed what a new coat of paint on your front door will do to your entryway?! There’s a street on my block where each house has a different paint color on their door and I often take that way just to look at them. It’s little improvements like these that can really pack an aesthetic punch when it comes to making a statement out of your entryway.
Likewise, a fresh coat of paint on your porch swing, bench, or planters can help you channel some of your DIY energy as well as give your space a little facelift. Think about the color scheme of your spring blooms and choose a shade that will compliment them, then dig those paint brushes out of the garden shed! If you’re not sure what goes best together and would prefer a guide, here’s a color combination cheat sheet. Take some chances- you can always change your color palate later, or even seasonally.
Nothing gives an outdoor space an updated look quite like some new walkways. Whether you’re aiming for a lively geometric design or something timeless and understated, with all of the choices now available, you can really indulge your creative side when planning out your walk or driveway. Stamped concrete offers color, texture, and warmth. Its versatile surface can take on the look of tile, brick, and even wood. It needs little maintenance and works well in a multitude of areas. Brick pavers provide a clean, intentional look and can be laid in various patterns such as herringbone, basketweave, and running bond. Bricks retain color a bit better than stamped concrete when exposed to UV rays, and they are perhaps the most eco-friendly choice because they’re able to be cleaned and reused. Concrete pavers can also mimic other materials such as stone. They’re poured, which means the sky’s the limit when it comes to their shape and size. They’re easy to cut and install, which means your project could be expedited if you opt for concrete pavers. The downside is that they require a bit more maintenance than the aforementioned options.
