Rocking Out Minneapolis This Fall!
September 10, 2021
Decorative rocks have been part of the human experience for eons. From Stonehenge to cave drawings, our fixation with these geological wonders continues to evolve into today’s trends, as we still use rock and stone to decorate much of our home’s interior and exterior. When we think about landscaping, there are so many exciting, versatile, and durable elements at play when using rocks or stones that we just had to name a few!
Boulders are a great way to add interest to your landscape beds. Acting as visual anchors, boulders create focal points around which you can integrate tall grasses or indiginous flowers then fill in remaining spaces with smaller river stones to complete your landscaping statement. Create definition by using varying dimensions of boulder groupings in different sizes, shapes, and colors. Along with the aesthetic appeal of boulders, they can be used to help with water diversion when set into a sloping yard- becoming a water feature in and of themselves!

Considering redoing your walkways? Flagstone, cobblestone, brick, or river rock are all lovely options for a walkway makeover! Think about the overall vibe you’re trying to accomplish- or if you’re undecided, talk to us about all the possibilities available to you. If you’re going for a Victorian pathway from your carriage house to your front door, for example, cobblestone might be a better fit than flagstone. Naturally polished river rock mosaic paths with geometric designs leading to your zen retreat, or a traditional bricked picnic patio area up to your back door both give your property personality and increase your home’s value.

The beauty of working with natural stone is that no two projects are ever the same. Thinking about redoing your retaining walls? Using rock as opposed to wood makes for a sophisticated look that you can trust to function properly over the long haul. Water features or fountains designed out of stone are a great way to add character to your landscaping as a whole. Sculptures, rock gardens, and terracing are all ways to showcase the beauty and resilience of these ancient elements while giving you the opportunity to update your yard. Durability, curb appeal, and maintenance all play a part in your decision making, and we are here to share in your excitement, and offer advice as you move forward with your landscaping vision!
