Spring is Hardscaping Season

March 18, 2021

Hibernation is coming to an end! We’re all eager to get back outside and enjoy our yards, gardens, and patios after another long Minnesota winter. Now that our yards aren’t covered in several feet of snow, we’re able to better envision all the landscaping possibilities. And it’s the perfect time to see some of those potential plans come to fruition.

Between the extreme temperature fluctuations and the salt build-up we experience in this climate, our driveways and sidewalks take on a lot of wear and tear in the winter months. They could likely use a little TLC- and early spring is the ideal time to install or upgrade your hardscapes. The loose spring soil is easier to break, which can make spring projects more economical because fewer labor hours will be needed- especially if the renovation requires lots of digging. It’s also a good opportunity to address your drainage. If you’re unhappy with your current water diversion, you might consider a change like the installation of permeable pavers or a rain garden.

Get inspired! Things are finally looking up on a lot of fronts and it’s justifiable to be excited by the prospect of hosting some small spring and summer gatherings. Page through a few of your preferred design magazines or take a look around your neighborhood to see what spaces you’re most impressed by. Whether it’s a winding garden walkway or a beautiful underground pool, take note of what you like and decide if your space is right for implementing some of your favorite landscaping ideas. The more features like fireplaces, pathways, and pools you have, the more likely you’ll want to get out and enjoy your new outdoor living renovations! Spring has sprung, we’re excited at the notion of change, and we would love to help you achieve the outdoor space you’ve always dreamed of.
